Algernon Hawkins Thomond Keith-Falconer, 9th Earl of Kintore, Lord Inverurie KT GCMG PC FRSE (12 August 1852 – 3 March 1930) was a British politician and colonial governor.

Born at Lixmount House, in Trinity, Edinburgh, Keith-Falconer was the eldest son of Francis Keith Falconer, 8th Earl of Kintore and his wife Louisa Madeleine, née Hawkins. He was educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge.

He held the office of a Lord-in-Waiting between 1885 and 1886. He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1886. He held the office of Captain of the Yeomen of the Guard between 1886 and 1889. Lord Kintore was Governor of South Australia between 1889 and 10 April 1895. He was made a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George (GCMG) on his appointment.

On his return from South Australia he resumed his post of lord-in-waiting at the court, serving Queen Victoria until her death and Edward VII until 1905. His court duties brought him the grand cordon of the Crown of Italy, the first class of the Prussian order of the Red Eagle and the Grand Cross of the Portuguese military order of Christ. In 1913 he was elected deputy-Speaker of the House of Lords.

A fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, he was awarded an honorary doctorate of laws by each of the Universities of Aberdeen.

Lord Kintore married Lady Sydney Charlotte Montagu (14 October 1851 – Keith Hall, Inverurie, Aberdeen, 21 September 1932), second daughter of George Montagu, 6th Duke of Manchester, at St George’s, Hanover Square, London, on 14 August 1873.

The Lovat Scouts (from 1903 to 1908 Lovat’s Scouts Imperial Yeomanry) were a British Army unit first formed during the Second Boer War as a Scottish Highland yeomanry regiment of the British Army. They were the first known military unit to wear a ghillie suit and in 1916 formally became the British Army’s first sniper unit, then known as “sharpshooters”. The regiment has gone through a number of changes and evolutions over the decades. For many years prior to the ending of the Scottish infantry division, it was embodied as the Orkney element of a rifle company as part of the 2nd Battalion, 51st Highland Volunteers.

Clan Donald, also known as Clan MacDonald is a Highland Scottish clan and one of the largest Scottish clans. The Lord Lyon King of Arms who is the Scottish official with responsibility for regulating heraldry in that country, issuing new grants of coats of arms, and serving as the judge of the Court of the Lord Lyon, recognizes under Scottish law the High Chief of Clan Donald. Historically the chiefs of the Clan Donald held the title of Lord of the Isles until 1493 and two of those chiefs also held the title of Earl of Ross until 1476.

There are also numerous branches to the Clan Donald and several of these have chiefs recognised by the Lord Lyon King of Arms; these are: Clan Macdonald of Sleat, Clan Macdonald of Clanranald, Clan MacDonell of Glengarry, Clan MacDonald of Keppoch, and Clan MacAlister. There are also notable historic branches of Clan Donald without chiefs so-recognised, these are: the Clan MacDonald of Dunnyveg, Clan MacDonald of Lochalsh, the MacDonalds of Glencoe, and the MacDonalds of Ardnamurchan. The MacDonnells of Antrim are a cadet branch of the MacDonalds of Dunnyveg but do not belong to the Scottish associations and have a chief officially recognised in Ireland.

Clan MacEwen or Clan MacEwan is a Highland Scottish clan recorded in the fifteenth century as Clan Ewen of Otter.

Historically, there have been several different MacEwen clans and septs, with some distinct, and some interrelated, origins for the modern surname. Each of these historical clans could be described by the name, “Clan MacEwen” or, at times, “Clan Ewen”. The modern clan does not yet have a chief recognized by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and as such is currently considered an Armigerous clan. However, as of 2018, Clan MacEwen has an elected Commander, Sir John McEwen, 5th Baronet of Marchmont and Bardrochat, who is in line to become the first Chief since the death of Swene McEwen, in 1493.

Scottish MacKechnie Clan 1960 Silver Plated Clan Badge

This is a very difficult clan surname to prove the precise origins, it may be Scottish, it may be Irish, or it could be Gaelic. The Scots regard MacKechnie as a member of the Clan MacDonald, the most numerous and prosperous of Scottish clans. This is quite possible as MacDonald is recorded in a bewildering variety of spellings including McConile in 1571, Mackoneye in 1586 and M’Kconil in 1597 amongst the many wonderful examples of how to spell the name MacDonald!

Scottish Atholl Highlanders Sporran

Atholl Highlanders goat hair sporran with six black tassels made using vintage badge and aged horsehair to give a older Victorian style.

The Atholl Highlanders is a Scottish infantry regiment. Based in Blair Atholl, the regiment is not part of the British Army. Instead, the regiment is in the private employ of the Duke of Atholl, making it the United Kingdom’s, and indeed Europe’s, only legal private army.

In 1839, the 6th Duke, as Lord Glenlyon, resurrected the regiment as a bodyguard which he took to the Eglinton Tournament at Eglinton Castle, Ayrshire. Three years later, in 1842, the regiment escorted Queen Victoria during her tour of Perthshire. In 1844, when the Queen stayed as a guest of the Duke at Blair Castle, the regiment mounted the guard for the entire duration of her stay. In recognition of the service that the regiment provided during her two visits, the Queen announced that she would present the Atholl Highlanders with colours, thus giving the regiment official status.

Hand crafted with vintage style leathers, badge and antiqued horsehair to give a vintage look.

Made to order. Approx 4 weeks
