Atholl Highlanders Regimental Silver Glengarry Badge

Solid silver Atholl Highlanders silver glengarry badge.

The Atholl Highlanders is a Scottish ceremonial infantry regiment. The regiment is not part of the British Army but is in the private employ of the Duke of Atholl, and based in Blair Atholl

The regiment was originally raised in Perthshire by John Murray, 4th Duke of Atholl as the 77th Regiment of Foot (or Atholl Highlanders, or Murray’s Highlanders) in December 1777.

More than 50 years later, in 1839, George Murray, 6th Duke of Atholl, as Lord Glenlyon, resurrected the regiment as a bodyguard which he took to the Eglinton Tournament at Eglinton Castle, Ayrshire. Three years later, in 1842, the regiment escorted Queen Victoria during her tour of Perthshire and, in 1844, when the Queen stayed as a guest of the Duke at Blair Castle, the regiment mounted the guard for the entire duration of her stay. In recognition of the service that the regiment provided during her two visits, the Queen announced that she would present the Atholl Highlanders with colours, thus giving the regiment official status.

What Size? – Scottish Jacket & Kilt Jacket Sizing Guide

To make sure your items fit perfectly when they arrive, we’ve made some measuring guides with handy tips to help you take accurate measurements first time.

How to Measure for your kilt

  • It’s easiest to have someone measure you
  • Stand straight up and relax
  • Measure at points shown without holding your breath
  • Ensure measurement is not taken over thick clothing
  • Tape measure should be snug but not too tight
  • All measurements should be taken in inches

Waist: A firm measurement taken just below the bottom of the rib cage on the natural waist.

Hips: Seat: Taken at the widest point of the seat.

Length: Measure from the natural waist to the middle of the kneecap. Take this measurement to the nearest 1/4 inch. It is important that this is done standing straight with your feet together. Note: Max kilt length available for hire is 28 inch.

Height – It’s very important that we get your full height (head to toe) so we can judge if the sizes you have provided appear correct, we will confirm this with you when you place an order.

Jacket & Tweed Sizes

Measurements should preferably be taken by another person. Always stand up straight and look straight ahead. BE NATURAL – Relax, and do not inhale and hold your breath or exhale and hold.

CHEST – Measure around the fullest part of the chest (this is generally across the nipple), be sure to keep the tape up under your arms and around shoulder blades.
WAIST – Measure the waist keeping one finger between tape and body (The widest point is usually across the navel).

We specialise in creating a range of bespoke shooting garments and Highland jackets to suit any occasion. Our tailor works to bring personal details to suit your requirements. Made to order by our own tailors in approx. Approx. 10-12 weeks.

We will confirm sizes and any non standard size elements with you on order. If you have any questions about sizes please email us.
