1880’s Victorian Style Kilt Jacket & Waistcoat
Victorian style kilt jacket and waistcoat. A recent tailoring project for a client saw us referencing an original photo of a Highland gentleman circa 1880. The style of the late Victorian period was that it was worn done up on the top button ( but will do up on all buttons if desired ). We styled this jacket for the client with four buttons and gauntlet cuffs, lower patch pockets a jetted breast pocket. A high button round collar waistcoat was worn with the original and we replicated this with four jetted pockets to match the breast pocket on the jacket. We could only guess at the four pocket option based on other photos and illustrations of the time. We know it had at least two lower pockets as you can see the Albert watch chain in the original photo.
