Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders Drum Major’s Baldric

Since 1998 The House of Labhran has designed and created a wide range of hand embroidered Drum Major’s baldric sashes and flag carrier sashes for clients around the world. Hand embroidered in gilt wires, silver and gold braids and silks on a fine blazer cloth with real soft leather linings. The Drum Major’s baldrics are mounted with miniature drum sticks and have a fringed gilt bottom edge.

The flag carrier sashes are adjustable and have a metal cup to hold your flag or standard pole and are trimmed in military gilt braids.

The position of Drum Major originated in England with the corps of drums in 1650. Military units performed mostly duty calls and battle signals during that period, and a fife and drum corps, directed by the Drum Major, would execute short pieces to communicate to units in the field. With the arrival of military concert bands and pipe bands around the 18th century, the position of the Drum Major was adapted to those ensembles.

The House of Labhran are proud to have supplied to the Scottish Highland Regiments, Canadian Regiments US Army, USAF baldrics, Fire & Rescue, Military Academy Bands, RAF, ATC, Police, Scottish & Irish Flute Bands, Royal British Legion, Parachute Regiment and British army.

Our in house team will help create a a bespoke Drum Major’s baldric or flag carrier sash that will be carried on your band for years to come.
